Make Miniature Hidden Potion Books using miniature decorative bottles and DIY handmade books. *I searched Etsy and a linked site trying to find if these were still for sale – and had no luck finding this seller.
You can make the DIY miniature handmade books from tutorials I’ve already posted (see roundup below) and combine it with this super easy DIY Book Safe from Wikihow
Make this DIY Swirling Magic Potion with 2 ingredients (not counting water).
…this is a quick and easy technique for creating a swirling, iridescent liquid that looks great as a potion, bound spirit, or fuel inside the reaction chamber of some infernal mechanism. Just shaking the bottle produces a wonderful pearlescent turbulence, and the effect is considerably enhanced if you can illuminate the liquid.
The magic ingredient is Mica Powder. The author said that the mica powder could be suspended in liquid longer if you added glycerin (found at drugstores and I use them in snowglobes and “keep calm” jars). One commenter wrote this:
I have been making a very similar effect that uses a couple of drops of silver paint instead of mica powder. The paint is Folk Art brand Metallic Silver Sterling, and you can find it pretty much everywhere in the US. You will also notice it settling a little at the bottom but just give it a shake and it’ll swirl again. Although it doesn’t have the almost colour-changing effect that the mica powder does when it settles and gets shaken up.
